Strategy

Creation of solutions that answer effectively and efficiently to the failures identified in the market, being this the strategic focus in the subsectors and branches of the study:

  • In-depth knowledge of the reality of companies by territorial region;
  • Creation of practical computational tools;
  • Creation and dissemination of best practices;
  • Development of technology-based solutions using ICT&E, available to SMEs on a single free access platform;
  • Training SMEs to introduce innovation into their production systems and to use the developed computational tools.

Phase 1

  • Dissemination of the project in the three Portuguese regions of intervention (Alentejo, Center and North of the country) fostered by InovCluster and with the support of the network of other clusters of the sector;
  • Mobilization of a wide range of agrifood companies;
  • Regional social communication and regional parties with activity in the innovation of the agrifood sector in order to ensure the universality of access to the knowledge developed by the project to all its potential users.

Phase 2

  • Creation of a planning and integrated management model of the training actions of SMEs to promote and ease the introduction of technical tools and innovative methodologies developed in the project in these SMEs;
  • Creation of a computer platform that gathers, in an integrated and concerted concept, all the tools, knowledge and information provided by the project.

Phase 3

  • Initial diagnosis with the analysis of existing knowledge and information and collection of information in the companies of the subsectors under study to characterize the productive process of the agrifood companies of the subsectors of meat products, horticultural, dairy and bakery products.

Phase 4

Creation of tools for each of the covered fields and for each of the four subsectors selected:

4.1. Field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH):

  • Characterization of the specific hazards and risks of each subsector by the analysis and measurements of occupational health and safety conditions in pilot companies;
  • Creation of a tool to characterize these hazards and risks per subsector based on ICTs;
  • Creation of a good practices tool to mitigate hazards and risks by subsector;
  • Training SMEs’ collaborators for innovation in this field and for the use of the tools created within the project.

4.2. Field of energy efficiency

  • Characterization of the sector and use as well the improvement of the tool that was developed within the scope of the Inovenergy
  • Creation and dissemination of good practices tool for the energy efficiency by sub-sector.
  • Enabling companies to implement innovative and environmentally-friendly energy solutions and to use existing and created tools within the scope of this project activity.

4.3. Field of optimization management of the productive processes

  • Creation of a tool for the analysis and characterization of the main bottlenecks in the application of the technological, organizational and management methods of the productive systems of the companies of each subsector.
  • Creation of a good practices tool for production processes optimization.
  • Training of SMEs for innovation in this field and for the use of the tools created within the project.

Phase 5

  • Dissemination of project results in the three intervention regions (Alentejo, Center and North of Portugal) fostered by InovCluster and with the support of the network of other clusters of the sector;
  • Mobilization of a wide range of agrifood companies;
  • Regional social communication and to regional parties with innovation activity in the agrifood sector in order to ensure the universality of access to the knowledge and tools produced by the project to all its potential users;
  • Promote and support the introduction of innovation in agrifood companies.
